Balanced Success and Failure

Success doesn't come easily, for sure. "Success has many parents but failure is an orphan." This is a famous quote by Gian Galeazzo Ciano, 2nd Count of Cortellazzo and Buccari. Failure can come anytime and owning it as much hard as is to get out of it. Becoming successful is always an attractive option. It definitely takes lots of efforts and determination to become a successful person.

I believe that retaining your success and digesting it is as difficult as becoming successful. It may take your old personality out of you if you failed to realise that it went over your head. If you are doing something insignificant then its final outcome will not impact you much. For example, you were trying to book flight tickets online but couldn't, then this will not take your confidence out of you. However, if you are doing something important then its final outcome will surely shake you from your feet. For example, you were preparing for Indian Administrative Services (IAS) examination. If you succeed, you will be on cloud 9, else will feel sunken below the ground.

I mean to say that you will NO LONGER be the SAME person. Here you need to strike the balance. Identify where you are after the final result and find out if you are the only person there? I am sure you will not. There must be many persons who had even bigger success/failure than of yours. If you got success, you will see your success in the light of the fact that there are many people with bigger success than yours. This knowledge will make you humble. If you failed, you will see your failure in the light of the fact that there are many people with even bigger failures. This knowledge will help you overcome the shock easily. Either way, you will be able to strike a fine balance between these two possibilities.

If you could see it in true sense, no power in the world would ever shake you from your stand, your vision. Both big successes and failures will become digestible. You become a sponge, which can absorb both the positive energy of success and negative energy of failure.

Wish you get both kinds of experiences in life and strike the balance!!
